XP On Second PC
I'm upgrading my kids' computer and have a question about XP licenses.
Their system currently has 98SE on it, but I'm considering putting XP Home on it, like my own system. I can get a second XP Home license for about 47 bucks, and an OEM copy of XP Home for about 85. Logic says just get another license and use my disc, but has anyone here tried this, and did you have any problems? Thanks. |

As long as the license is legal, and as long as the version of XP Home you have is not a branded OEM (for example, a Dell XP CD usually will not work on non Dell systems) - you should be fine. The EULA requires you to have a valid license, you can reuse the media on other systems.

Yes, it's a full version, not branded. I'm also updating the system's mobo and processor to an Athlon XP 2400+ with 512 MB of DDR.
