BLUE Screen on WinXP Pro!!!

Ok this has been happening every few days, during windows loading AND after I put my password in to login, I get a error message (over a blue screen) that goes something like this:

"A crucial process or thread has stopped or exited unexpectedly". It tells me it can be a hardware change but haven't made any changes for a long time. What do I do?
