Download wizard

Does anyone know a reason why my download wizard should suddenly start hanging for about 5 minutes at various bar positions? It also appears to have happened at the same time that restore takes ages to load. Is this possible?
I have run antivirus and trojan checks OK.

What "download wizard" are you speaking of? What "restore" are you speaking of?

Hi glc, the download wizard is the one that comes up when you load various progammes, it used to work fine but now the load bar stalls at about 80% of the way across for about 5mins and then completes the task.
System restore is windows XP restore which i have used several times to get me out of problems, but now this hangs for a long period prior to opening up, then it runs as normal. It looks like something is affecting both of these programmes.

Some memory resident antivirus and antispyware programs can cause this. What are you using?

I am using Antivir personal edition, Spybot, Kerio personal and easy cleaner. I have run these programmes for 18 months and problem started about a month ago. I have just started this week to use Microsoft Antispyware.

MS Antispyware can cause this when real time protection is enabled. I don't know about Antivir.
