I have PC with win xp on the PC. The PC has a password setup, I restarted the PC with my XP OS nothing happen. I tried to go to the BIOS setup it didn't let me. I would like to format the hard drive make new partition and install the operating system all over again.. If any one can help me step by step I would be very grateful.. Hello and welcome to PC Mech,
if you want to install XP from scratch, you just need to boot from the CD and follow the instructions on the screen. After a couple minutes you will be able to remove and re-create partitions (and format them). Your data will be gone, too, so make sure you backed up everything. If you can't boot from the CD then you need to get into BIOS, to change the boot order. To remove the password, take out the battery for a couple hours. Then you can access the BIOS. But all the BIOS settings will be gone, too, and you'd have to set all parameters again. RJ
