w2k boot disk -file too big ?!

My new w2kpro install on a new HDD got stalled on setup disk#4, with msg :"file ntfs.sys is corrupted" . I have tried to copy a new one from Bootdisk.com but the file is 1.47 bytes and the floppy 1.45 and the file will not unzip to the formatted floppy. I can't find this set of 4 installation discs anywhere on the microsoft.com site . Tried using various single windows boot discs but they are not accepted. "disc error/etc" since the drive now has discs 1 to 3 on it.
Why am I getting this file as corrupted, or too large ?
Thanks,
Chris

strange, i also got that message when loading win xp last time.

since NTFS refers to a file format, as compared to FAT32 and FAT16(outdated) and FAT(totally outdated)

were u upgrading or doing a clean install? are u installing win 2k in addition to win 98 (not upgrading win 98, but addign win 2k instead)? did u elect for the NTFS file option?

the only error i know about is that win 98 cannot read NTFS files =/

Thanks- this is an install of a brand new hard drive on a motherboard that
had been used with W98.There is no other HD attached. All I did was feed it the floppies and all went well until
the 4th one. I wasn't given any selections of ntfs or anything else.

Can any one tell me where these 4 floppies are available. The ones I have are not original and may really not be good.
Failing that can I setup some other way?

Cheers,
Chris

Why aren't you just booting from the CD?

" Why aren't you just booting from the CD?"
I was asking myself that too. Well, the Paul Thurrot's site and elsewhere said to use the 4 MS floppies. Floppy #4 had a kink in the aluminium sleeve that protects the actual disc.Hence the erronious error message about corrupted files- should have been corrupted aluminium. Once I remade the disc all went well. These 4 boot files can only be made with their DOS program -think its 'bootdisk.exe' .
Floppies now seem positively quaint, even to a geezer like me.
Cheers.

I have only installed 2000 once by booting with the floppies - it was painful. Just boot with the CD. Paul needs to get with the times.

Its makebt32.exe, by the way.
