Cannot Find User.exe?
My brother's eMachine had a hard drive crash. We installed another hard drive, 180gigs, and tried to install an operating system. All we have is the XP upgrade, so we decided to install 98SE first. It can never start up. Everythings seems to be going fine, then it trys to start Windows for the first time and we get that error.

Don't even bother to try to install 98SE, it's not compatible with drives bigger than 137 gigs. You can install XP upgrade on a clean drive, all you have to do is swap CD's when XP does its compliance check. I'd let XP setup delete all partitions and create a new one, and if your CD doesn't have SP1 or SP2 already incorporated, you will only be able to make a 128 gig partition anyway - but XP will install. When the service pack is installed, you can create another partition on the rest of the drive or use Partition Magic to extend the existing one.
