Buffer overrun error

My friend has win98 and getting "buffer overrun", "runtime library", "explorer.exe" errors and cannot access the internet, cause IE will cause errors. He also cannot use his e-mail.
Anyone know how to fix this ?

Thanks
Daisie

Go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and do a virus scan. Also scan for spyware. It sounds like that computer is infected.

Thanks doctorgonzo, but the user cannot access the internet. Getting an explorer.exe error. I also have a feeling it's either a virus or spyware.

Thanks
Daisie

Download AVG antivirus to another computer that has access to the internet and install it on the bad computer in order to do a scan. Do the same for the anti-virus programs.
