hw question about scanning and delay menu?!
this is for my hardware and software support class, i was already helped on another one so i figure it wont hurt if someone else can help me on this. so the question is...
a work ticket has been placed to adjust the number of seconds that is displayed when the windows 98 start menu appears. the delay menu option needs to be adjusted to 5 seconds instead of the default value. also, you have been asked to automatically scan the hard drive upon booting in windows 98. do not specify answer using regedit commands, windows scheduler program or startup folder shortcuts. basically our job is to show the steps of what you need to do, i searched around and cant find anything close... so any help would be great. thanks |

Looking for someone to do your homework for you?
The MS Startup Menu is embedded in io.sys. (00010F68) That's all I'll give you, you have to do your homework or take notes. (OK, one more hint, you need a hex editor.) Scandisk (I presume this is what you meant) can be initialized either via the msdos.sys or autoexec.bat files.

You can take care of the startup menu by editing msdos.sys, you can use Notepad. However, there are a couple things you need to know which I'll let you research the way you are supposed to.
Hint on scandisk - look in msconfig. If you didn't listen in class or read your assignment, you CAN find both these procedures with Google. We are happy to help people with problems here, but we will not do your homework for you. |
