how to identify computer internal components?

how do i identify the computer internal components along with their current interrupt status? i need to do this in both DOS and win 98, i just need to identify what i have in my PC

If you are happy to open the case and jot down some serial numbers and model numbers from the individual pieces, this site can help you identify them.

there's not a way i can just do it in windows 98? i ahve to physically remove everything?

If you want to identify a piece specifically I honestly don't think device manager in Control Panel>System is going to give you enough detail.

They do a free version which doesn't cover everything, but will identify much of your computer's innards.

Find System Tools it should be in Programs>Accessories.. As far as Dos goes I am not sure.

I had to use it last week to find out what kind of NIC I had in a 98SE pc.

Needed a driver, but didn't know who made the card, the Device Manager only said 10/100 Ethernet.

And get the third program too. Belarc advisor. Between the 3 you can get most of the stuff.

Device manager will show you the devices and the interrupts associated with them.
Earilier DOS had MSD.
