Dell Inspiron 5000 w/Win98SE advise needed.
A customer wants me to work on a Dell Inspiron 5000 that he was given. It has a PIII 600 w 128 mb ram installed. No matter what I do, I cannot seem to get the laptop to shutdown or restart normally! I do not have the Recovery disk for the laptop, but I was able to install a 802.11g wireless adapter and download about 16Mb or so of critical updates. I was hoping this was an old issue fixed by the updates, but no. Is there anyway to repair this laptop so hard booting isn't the olly way to shutdown?
