Image Quality of SysTray Icons
Ok, I have a weird problem.
I downloaded some new video drivers to see if they would improve my gaming performance. They caused artifacts, so I reverted back to my old drivers, the 71.89 Nvidia drivers currently available from nvidia.com. These are WHQL certified, as were the other ones I tried. Both times when I swapped drivers I uninstalled the previous ones using Add/Remove Programs, then rebooted into Safe Mode where I ran Driver Cleaner to remove any traces of the previous drivers. Then rebooted again and installed the new ones. So what's the problem? I noticed when I tried out the newer Nvidia drivers that it made the icons in my system tray look different, almost like it dropped their resolution or something. The little guy in the AIM icon looks thinner, and the bullseye icon for the Microsoft Spyware Tool is just a black circle. I figured this would be fixed when I swapped back to my old drivers, but it wasn't. I redid the process again, making sure to delete the Nvidia directory to try and make sure any files were gone from the last install, but nothing changes. I know it's driver related because during the time before I install the drivers after uninstalling the old ones, when I'm just using the default VGA drivers, the icons look normal. It's only after I reboot with the Nvidia drivers that they get messed up again. This is really annoying me, and having to stare at it constantly is threatening to give me an anyeurism. I'd really hate to have to reinstall Windows just for this. Any advice? |
