service pack 2 xp

on a clean install of windows xp pro. You can download the
windows updates, and then once its installed these it gives me the
option to download service pack2. But once this pack is installed i can't see
the hotfix codes that are normally seen in the add/remove programs section of control panel. Has it deleted my previous updates? or combined them with the service pack? or isn't it necessary to download the updates b4 SP2
because they're in SP2?

They're in SP2. Everything from SP1 to SP2 are included in there.

At the top of the "Add or Remove Programs" window is a box that says "Show Updates". Put a check in that box and all of your updates will appear at the bottom.
