problems with xp pro and cmd.exe

For some reason, I can't get cmd.exe to change dir to my d drive. It stays stuck in the documents and settings folder in the c drive. I tried to use chdir and cd but to no use. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help.

No - you just type d: and hit enter. You don't use cd to change drives. cd means change directory, not drive.
