Folder Links In Win Explorer (Explore by default)

I created a shortcut to my commonly used folder in the Links bar for convenience, but there's no point if every time I click it a new window opens up that I have to close (unless I right click and click "Explore")

Does anyone know how to make folder links in Win Explorer explore by default left click (instead of Open)?

Thanks.

p.s. I'm running XP home

Do you mean that you want the new window to open in the default window not in a new window?

!!! I just screwed up! I went to folder options>file types, and for "file folder" created a new action called "explore" pointing to c:\windows\explorer.exe /e

Now, any time I double click a folder in the main window of explorer, I get the following error message:

Quote:
The path '/e C:\Program Files' does not exist or is not a directory.
I tried to undo it by going back into folder options>file types and remove the "/e" but the option to edit is grayed out! Now the only way I can navigate folders is by click on the folder in the Folders tree (but not in the main window). Please help!

Thanks.

Send a message via MSN to macko72
You can try going to Control Panel>Folders Option>General> and choose restore defaults.

I already tried it, didn't work. Unfortunately I didn't have system restore on, so any help that you can offer would be appreciated.

Problem still persists, but here is an update: if I check the box "Launch folder windows in a seperate process" under Folder Options, then when I double click a folder in explorer it opens up the folder in a new window instead of giving me the error message. Obviously, this is not fixing the problem, just avoiding it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
