Angry txtsetup.sif ??

I have been trying to reinstall win xp on a friends computer (new HDD) however I keep getting tis error message.
It had a HDD failure but was working before that.

INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing status 2

That sounds like you are trying to use a customized XP CD (OEM restore media) on a generic machine.

No. It is a full "retail" version.

In that case, I'd look at a defective CD, dirty CD drive, or bad ram.
