Win XP safe mode poor video res

My new install of video XP is starting at a resolution my monitor doesn't like. [this happened before] can anyone tell me what the safe mode key is for XP on start? shift? esp? or one of the F keys?

Press it repeated times after the ram check, you will get few options.

Start windows in safe mode is what you want.
