Question Can't Restore XP!

Hi , I'm trying on using XP system restore in order to recover a subfolder that someone delete from a program folder. But XP can't restote my PC to an early date. Why? any help? Thanks.



The subfolder exist in Temp files but is empty when double clicked.

What is happening when you try to do a restore???

Restoration Incomplete . windows can't retore to an early date . no changes
made . I disabled the firewall to make sure that's not factor why. I tried all the dates back up to the 11th of May. Thanks.

If you have changed too many things since the date you are trying to restore to, then it can fail as youa re describing..

Changes in removing or adding ? No. I beleived since I installed XP never been able to use system restore. Thanks.

OK, then try shutting down all unnecessary apps and processes and it should work, or you can try doing system restore in safe mode, but I'm not sure if that works or not..

Still unable to restore my PC. in the dates to restore is :
software distribution service 2.0 and I beleive this is one reazon it prevent from restore .does not have other point. Any help still need it. Thanks

Try PC Inspector to recover the deleted folder. System restore is not foolproof as you have just found out.

System restore is not used to recover data files. It is for system state files used to boot the OS and keep it running smoothly (like .dll's and other system files). Taken from M$:

"System Restore does not affect your personal data files"

There ya go. Even ASR backups are not made for data... only you can backup data. So System Restore and what not will not bring back deleted files. You need a recovery/undelete app. I would link to a good app but the site looks to be down at the moment. I'll check back l8r.
