I had a similar problem once where i tried a dual boot, everything seemed to go well, and when my pc reboot i got system couldnt find the disk, please check to make sure the hard drive is plugged in. i fixed it by downloading a utility from my hard drive manufacturer, burned it to a cd, and ran it when my pc booted up. it zero filled my hard drive, and allowed me to start over and reinstall my Operating Systems.
here is a link i found to help with your dual booting http://theeldergeek.com/dual_and_multibooting_xp.htm
