I am haveing a real problem with my computer HP P4 1.3g, I changed the hardrive from another computer to the HP. The hardrive has windows xp pro on it. After hooking up the hardrive windows does not start. I get the BSOD telling me to disconnect the hardrive, check the hadrive controllers, etc. What to I need to do to get windows to boot. Thanks for all your help in this matter.

You need a legit copy of XP Pro. Do a repair/install so it will recogize the hardware of the machine it is now in.

Thanks Panama Red for the quick reply. I changed the boot sequence in the BIOS to boot from the CDROM but I cannot get it to run so I can re-install the operating system. Any suggestions? Thanks again for your help.

Sincerely,

Your XP Pro disk must be a legal MS disk, not a copy. A legal disk should boot from the CD rom. If you have more than one CD drive installed, make sure you have the correct one selected as the boot device. Some bios's offer an option of which one is boot drive.
