Spyware???

i have a problem my background says i have spyware and when i click on spybot S&D nothing happens i ran STRIKER but it came up with nothing what is my problem? My background is not ordinary background its a webpage. I have winXP

More than likely what you are noticing is a popup add for Spyware removal. Dont be alarmed. If you have run Spybot and found nothing then you should be ok. Although make sure you have updated Spybot to its most recent version. I also suggest that you try downloading AdAware Personal to go along with Spybot. Using both anti-spyware programs will not hurt one bit as sometimes they find certain files that the other did not.

does it say something about smitfraud? maybe post what the new screen says, the more info u give the better help you'll recieve.

i havent run spybot because i am not able. when i click on it nothing happens. when i search for it i cannot download it or even find it anywhere on the web but if i do the exact same search on another computer everything works normal

Try to run your antispyware in safe mode or if you can't access safe mode try to use explanation below!!!


Click on start > run then type msconfig and when System config utility opens go to services tab click on box to hide all microsoft services and disble rest then accept all that you've been asked but don't restart computer insted run anti spyware and then if successful restart comp!!!

can you post a hijack this log this may be one of the old desktop hijacks as Negeva pointed out or the new one .

What does the webpage on your desk top say or could you provide a prnt screen of it here
