User Accounts & Win XP
I want to rename my XP administrator account and make a new user account named Administrator. When I call up accounts on the control panel the account name and a title"computer administrator" is listed. Is there a way to delete/change the account title?
The new account named Administrator would have no "privleges", all the administrator functions would remain with the renamed account. |

On XP Home that is the built-in account for the Administrator and can't be deleted but you can rename it. Go to Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Local User and Groups, then under Users, right click on the account and make your changes, but do keep in mind that this is the "Real Admin" account so remember the user name and password or you might be screwed down the road.

Yes I understand what the Admin account is for. I want to also change the account title that appears under the account name.
example: USER NAME Computer Administrator When I change the account name I want the title to change, also. Example: USER NAME Guest ...and have that account being the computer administrator. I know how to change the User name, I want to change the account title. |

I don't believe that can be done with the built-in Admin account, cause it changes the account type/privileges and the admin is the admin no matter what you name it to, but you can change created accounts along with their privileges.
Bottom line you change the account title you change the priviliges, so you can't mask an admin accout with a guest title. Last edited by lil Jimmie; 05-31-2005 at 08:26 PM. |
