Getting into some "hidden" files....

Ok so I need to get to some files on a computer that are on a different account. They have the option to keep the files locked except to themselves.....

The OS is XP Home, is there a way for me to get to these files?

Are you the set as the administrator on the machine? Do you have access to the other account?

If you have access to the other account, simply copy them into your "shared docs" folder. Then you should be able to access it.

If you are the administrator, you should be able to get there by going:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\[subfolder location]

Let me know if that works, or any problems you run into.

Ask the owner of those files to give you access. If they say no, leave it at that.

I am an admin, and I don't have access to the user's account.....

Look at the pic, under "Local Sharing and Security" they have the box checked and when I try to access the files I get a "Documents are not accessable" error.

They were my files that I need....for some coding....if I can't do anything I might as well just leave them sit where they are....

If the user's account is not yours, I can not tell you how to retrieve it as per forum rules. Ask the user for his/her permission, or ask somewhere else. Sorry, I'd love to help you, but that is a no-no around here.

Log in as THE administrator - with XP Home you have to use safe mode to do that.
