have a problem with a new build here. trying to install xp pro as my operating system but when i try and format the seagate ultra ata/100 120gb it gets to 100% complete and tellks me that it could not format,need to try with another partition. also the system does not recognize the other seagate drive.please help. msi k8n neo 4 motherboard, amd 64 3200 cpu, corsair twin-x dual 1gb memory, e-ge force pcie 6600 vidio card,sony dvd dru-720a,ultra 500 powersupply,kingwin kt-424 case.

You can not format the partition XP is on from XP... You have to boot from XP cdrom to format the partition XP is already installed on... The other drive may not be jumpered properly if the BIOS doesn't recognize it, or may need partitioned and formatted if just XP does not recognize it.. The other drive you can format and partition from XP in disk management..
