MSN Messenger Problems

I am having a lot of trouble signing into msn messenger. It basically just doesn't signin. It keeps on trying but never logins. Windows messenger works fine, i sign in no probelm. i turned off my firewall and still no luck.

The version of messenger i am using is 7.0.0813.

Yea i hav been thru that problem before for the new version...but later i dwlded the version again and now thers no such menace.

Alrite the version u hav is the latest one...but u can try the above tip.

One more thing is that my computer was completely hijacked by viruses and trojans and i had to clean it using AVG and Kerio+ZoneLabs...so u get urself a good AV package as well...(i dont thnk this is related anyway to ur msn problem but still...)

Messenger Plus is not a good idea - its loaded with spyware and conflicts. Stick with standard Messenger or use Trillian if you must use MSN.

Remove msn plus but be sure to remove it from registry as well as from startup and program files and don't use it if not necesary I mean don't install it at all, I know that there is some fun using it but there is grater damage that comes with it than real need!!!

As glc said it's full of harmful staff !!!

XP comes bundled with messenger 4.0 for use on your own LAN, I have ahd a few problems with messenger 7.0 when they are both trying to run at the same time, you can either switch off 4.0 in services or as I always do uninstall 4.0
To uninstall 4.0 copy and paste this entire script into your run box and click OK:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

The next time you start 7.0 it will say "installing" and it will reinstall 7.0 but not 4.0, it takes a fraction of a second for 7.0 to recover itself and 4.0 is gone for good, should you ever need 4.0 again it can be reinstalled from your XP CD.

You said in your first post that you had turned off your firewall, try contacting your ISP maybe they have it blocked or on a black list for some reason.
