Duel OS option at boot up
How do I get rid of the choice of which OS I want the comp to boot to. I have a comp that had xp installed and then uninstalled and I only have Windows ME on the comp now but still get the option screen at boot up asking which OS to boot up with.
Can someone please tell me how to stop this from happenning as its annoying me. Thanks guys.

The NTLDR file, the WinNT/2000/XP bootloader, is still doing the chore of booting your system. What you'll need to do is replace it with the regular Win9x "mbr" (Master Boot Record). You'll need to be careful: and backups beforehand are advised, before trying this.
There's a fairly thorough description available here: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/xpfaq.html#remov4 [Google saves me a lot of typing] Best of luck . . . Gary |

Would it not be easier to manually edit boot.ini? Or have I missed something here

There is no longer the need for a boot.ini as XP has been removed.

Just boot into a dos prompt with the windows disc and type 'fixmbr' It worked for me when I had a similar problem.

You are both missing something. It *HAD* XP on it, now it only has ME. You don't use XP to fix it, you use ME. ME does not have a boot.ini or a fixmbr command.
