Outlook Express text attachments opening in Word

A while back all my email attachments containing text started opening in Word. Photo attachments are not affected. I need help in correcting this problem.

Hi brewster

It sounds like that extension is currently associated with Word. You might be able to switch it back quite easily:

1) In Windows Explorer, find a text file, and with the cursor resting on that file, hold down the Shift key and right-click at the same time = this should give the menu option box that includes the item "Open With".
2) From the "Open With" list of programs, choose the one you'd like to have open text attachments, and place a checkmark in the box "always use the selected program to open this type of file"

See if that does it.
