computer hangs!

I have an AMD with an ABIT board running Windows XP. When I restarted my computer, all it does is hang! It keeps saying no video signal. This happened before a while back...Funny thing is my usb port is not working, so I thought it might be an external peripheral. I shut it down, unplugged the keyboard, started it back up, and Voila, it booted. For some reason it started to reinstall the USB Bridge, so I let it. I plugged my keyboard back in with it on, then the keyboard wouldn't work! I restarted the computer, now it hangs again! THe light on my USB port unit is red. Could an external USB device be holding this up?
Please help!

USB port unit? Are you using an external USB hub? If so, it needs to be AC powered or you could be overdrawing the port power with multiple devices.

I have a 4 port Linksys AC hub. When it did boot it tried to reinstall the USB-Bridge (in fact it did!) Something is causing it to hang....I unplugged each USB device one by one, but that didn't work either....The hard drive light stays on, but there is NO video signal!

Disconnect the hub and plug the keyboard directly into a system USB port (same with the mouse if you are using a USB mouse) and leave all other USB devices unplugged. Go from there, adding one device back in at a time till you find which one is upsetting the apple cart.

That said, I recommend PS/2 keyboards and mice. The PS/2 ports can't be used for anything else so you might as well use them. USB is finicky enough without adding unnecessary devices to it and there's no performance advantage when it comes to these 2 peripherals.
