Registry Keeps COrrupting
Hi, twice now windows has died because of a registry error saying:
Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM So I pulled out BartPE and did a system restore and it worked, for a couple days. Now its back, so Ill do the same thing again. But I'd like to stop this from happening so my question is: Is there anyway to determine whats causeing this!?!? |

I would definatelt start witht a good virus scan, spyware scan, and also clean up the startup folder from anything that does not need to be there..

Yea definatley sounds like a virus. If you dont already have a virus scanner, go download AVG anti-virus, its great and free.

Boot up your Bart and do a check disk, looking for bad sectors too. Hard drive may be developing problems.

I dont think it can be the hard drive, or a virus. Norton is on there and up to date, and the hard drive is brand new (Replaced the old one which had problems)

Search the Support Knowledge Base (KB)
http://search.support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 Select XP and search for "following file is missing or corrupt." Tons of possibilities/solutions. The error message should mention which file is having the problem...

Yep i read that many a time, thats the long way to fix it, (again lemmie say I love BartPE), then I saw click here if it keeps happening, but that article was only applicable to < SP1, and this is SP2. Would there be any benefit to logging all registry actions? Maybe that would help, and if so how?
