i figured out why i couldnt get the remote access to configure. basically i had to install a bunch of service packs and updates to get it to work. i originally was installing small business server service pack1, and i thought i did, but i shortly found out that i still had a lot to do to get SBS SP1 installed correctly. here is a list of everything that i downloaded and installed to get SBS SP1 working which in turn fixed my remote access problem:
these are the service packs and updates that i downloaded and installed: * Windows Server 2003 SP1 * Exchange Server 2003 SP1 * Windows SharePoint Services SP1 * Windows Small Business Server 2003 Update KB891193 for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (this one is the windows xp service pack 2 for client deployment) * Windows Small Business Server 2003 SP1 here is the website i used to fix the problem: http://www.smallbizserver.net/Default.aspx?tabid=236 this i found by clicking the " Installation Instructions for Service Pack 1 for Windows Small Business Server 2003, Standard Edition" which is located in the middle of the page. http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...1Setup_std.htm i decided to post my results just in case anyone else was having this problem. microsofts website doesnt state that you need all of these other service packs installed before you can install SBS SP1. i hope this saves other SBS owners some headaches when they try and install the latest service pack for the small business Server 2003!!!!!!!!
