Application marks

Applications leave "tracers" (marks) when they are dragged. (Not sure what the real term is). Is this due to drain on memory? Only happens when I am running something taking up more memory but I always have at least 25% RAM free.

Do you mean that when you drag a window, the dotted outline of the window gets left behind sometimes? What version of Windows do you have?

"Show Windows Content While Dragging" is an option in System->Advanced tab->Performance Settings that can be turned off.

Yes, the window leaves its shadow behind or its image and the window seems to drag a little jerky. Happens a lot with Windows Explorer and not really Internet Explorer or any other applications. I run some video encoding software which takes up memory and that's when this happens. Running XP2, 512 MB RAM, AMD 2800 Barton, 1152x864@75 Hz. No spyware or virus problems (I use plenty of programs for that).

ATI 9550 Pro. Hadn't had problems since I installed new driver 2 mths ago. (Before was experiencing a little crashing, maybe 5x/week at most. My PC is on 24/7). Few days ago decreased acceleration a little but no success. I did have to take card out last week to install some RAM but haven't had any graphics problems. (Never got new RAM to register on PC so I reinstalled old RAM).

You might try this little reg tweak. It's like F5/Refresh on steroids.

Automatically Refresh File Lists in Explorer

Change the value of UpdateMode in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Update from 01 to 00
