Hello i am new at this have learned a little about my computer over the past year but want to learn a lot more hopefully someone can help me. I have windows xp home on my pc and i want to reformat my computer i have put my disc in and tried to boot from it but it is not seeming to work can someone please tell me how i can try to reformat or at least a link where it will help me figure this out.

You have to go into the BIOS, which is that little enter setup thing right when you power on your PC, and check to be sure cdrom is set as a boot option, and on some boards must be set before the harddrive in boot order. If you have never been into the BIOS, see if your manual has any good instructions so you have at least a little guidance if it's your first time in there..

is it a restore cd that came with the computer, or a xp-home edition that you bought seperate.
normally you do not want to reformatt a xp system as it has so many features to correct most typical problem that makes it totally unsessary and a complete wast of time that could be better spent learning the features of xp. |
