win xp desktop blank
after booting into win xp. my desktop remains blank. no taskbar, desktop icons, no nothing. cant even right click on desktop. only way i manage is by running programs from the task manager. can anyone reccomend a solution?
i've found a similar solution at http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=221005 but i dont receive any error message, just boot straight to desktop without any. i also use win xp home, not win xp pro Last edited by xiankai; 06-10-2005 at 07:40 AM. |

Have you thought about a repair/install to reset all your system files?

Boot it into safe mode, log in as administrator, and set your folder options to show system and hidden files, and unhide extensions for known file types. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to c:\documents and settings\your user name\desktop and delete desktop.ini. Reboot.
