Help, Windows XP
I tried adding a lexmark printer last night, only to have my whole computer messed up. When I restarted, I got a message from the new hardware wizard, something about usb and vga compatible? Any how, the only thing I can get to work on the computer is the task manager and through there I was able to access mozilla web browser to send this message. There is no toolbar, no start up, no desktop icons, I'm really in a pickle here, especially since my computer knowledge is limited. To make matters worse, I loaned out my xp reboot disk, so I don't think I can just reload xp. Maybe I don't need to, but if anyone could lead me in the right direction here, I would really appreciate it.

Try starting in safemode (press or tap the F8 key while it`s booting). First try last known good configuration in the advanced options menu which may or may not help as it only restores the registry in CurrentControlSet. In other words it only restores Windoze reg settings and not third party software.
If this doesn`t help then restart and choose safe mode. While in safe mode uninstall the Lexmark printer, any Lexmark directories and any Lexmark registry entries if you are comfortable in the registry. Reboot and let us know what happened. |

Before you do a restore of the last known good configuration, I would recommend going to the Safe Mode and doing a system restore instead. It's a lot cleaner!
Once you have booted to Safe Mode, go to All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Now click on a date in bold BEFORE you did your lexmark printer installation. and restore your computer to that date. |

hmmm....
I'm actually in safe mode right now, the only problem is, I can't get a start menu or tool bar. so I can't really do much. I'll try the sys restore and we'll see where that gets me.

If you can get to the task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL)
Go to the File menu > New Task and run: c:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe assuming that's where your windows is loaded. |

Hello! 1st post!
I recently picked up a Lenmark fax/copier/printeri was relatively cheap like 88 bucks. Anyway.. I found that the drivers that came with the Lenmark where ...ahh .lacking to say the least.. I was havcing problems getting the print drivers to work...The fax drivers worked but I could not print.. this happend on both of my PC's... so I uninstalled it then downloaded the lastest drivers from Lenmark and problem solved |
