My sound device went away...
Hi All,
I recently bought a HP presario PC that had XP home installed on it. I then installed a fresh copy of XP pro, but since then the PC has no sound. Device manager says the sound devices are working properly, but when I go to the 'sounds' aplet in control panel, it says there are no sound devices installed. I tried updating the driver, using Windows update as one of the places to look for drivers, but it won't find a match for the drivers. Has anyone ever seen this type of behavior before? Thanks. Jim |

You generally need to install the cd with all the chipset drivers that came with the pc when you do a fresh Windows install.
Should be able to find the drivers on www.hp.com
