My sound device went away...

Hi All,
I recently bought a HP presario PC that had XP home installed on it. I then installed a fresh copy of XP pro, but since then the PC has no sound. Device manager says the sound devices are working properly, but when I go to the 'sounds' aplet in control panel, it says there are no sound devices installed. I tried updating the driver, using Windows update as one of the places to look for drivers, but it won't find a match for the drivers.
Has anyone ever seen this type of behavior before?
Thanks.
Jim

You generally need to install the cd with all the chipset drivers that came with the pc when you do a fresh Windows install.

Should be able to find the drivers on www.hp.com
