Blue File names
Probably a dumb Q, but why do many many file names show up in blue in my XP system Windows explorer etc..How do they differ from black titles and do you handle them differently?

Disk cleanup will compress/make them blue files that haven't been used in a while.

Those are compressed files. By design, WinXP compresses files
that do not get used, and, if you've left the default settings intact, displays those files in blue. In Windows Explorer, Tools > Folder Options > View > Advanced settings: Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color.
