System Restore Wont Come Up in ME

I am in a predicment.If I need System Restore , I will not have it. I might have to re-install ME should it come to that. Here is what I do. I go to START->>PROGRAMS-->>ACCESSORIES-->>SYSTEM TOOLS-->>SYSTEM RESTORE. When I click SYSTEM RESTORE it brings up " System Restore cannot run until you re-start your computer. Please re-start your computer then run System Restore ".--------------------So I re-start my computer. After all things are loaded I go to START and the same thing starts all over again.--------------------------Don

Hi From Texas! time:6:30 PM central start

Well GLC , it worked !. I went to RUN > SEARCH---typed in wininit.nit in my drive C: .It took about a minute. Up popped wininit . I right clicked. When the box came up for choices, I clicked on rename. I decided to delete all of wininit and I did. I could have clicked close to the high lite and added only .xxx. I then went to START > PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > SYSTEM TOOLS > and then clicked on SYSTEM RESTORE. Now , the whole big box of System Restore popped up on the screen and I did my thing to it. I set a restore Point for today. I had one on the 12th and a couple more in May. Soooooooo , everything is Oke' Doke' . I set that Restore point because I am going to try the Google fast download program. I had already downloaded it from yesterday, but didn't want to install it till I got System Restore working. I have not heard if anyboday has tried that 'Google' download program. They say it will make pages off the Internet come up faster. I think it is an experiment by Google, I don't know, probably is.--------Anyway, thanks again GLC !---Whew !! , man !!, this was a simple fix. P.S.: even though it was in 2001 I started learning computers (for my age), I have SO much to go !. I only use the computer is to play , and get information on the Internet. I love downloading utilities and trying them. I know , I ROLL THE DICE
