service pack 2 problems
I recently build a new computer. installed windows xp without service pack 2.
automatic updates put sp2 on my computer. when rebooting moniter went black. I had to boot in safe mode and delete sp2 just to get working again. I need some direction on how to get it working with sp2 on my computer, because I need it to make my usb 2.0 conections to work. |

Welcome to PCMech! How long between your build and the update? Is it possible your comp picked up any malware between the two?

Since this is a new build, it would be helpful to post some specs on the components.
Also if there is a BIOS update available I would flash the BIOS and then reinstall SP2. That is what I had to do to my Dell before I could install SP2. I have better luck installing SP2 from a CD. You can order the CD from the Microsoft web site free. They even put a label on the CD asking you to make copies and distribute. Never saw them do THAT before.
