Why XP keeps on updating my version 2 with version one? and how can I remove the update shield icon (not disabling it because then you have a red one) because there's no update need it? Thanks.

Just because you got Service pack 2, does not mean there is no further updates. MS keeps releasing patches as the problems arise. If the shield icon bugs you, just set it to totally automatic in the control panel, and you will never even know about the updates.

thanks for youyr response . The updates that comes are always for version 1 and I have version 2 . after I tried the installation this is what it says :
" Updates where unable to be succesfully installed. Security Update for MS .Net Framework , Version 1.1 Service pack 1 Windows malicious Software Removal Tool June 2005" . This is what I dislike about all of this of constant reminders of update. |

You can prevent the .Net update by Unselecting it at Windows Update. Just do a scan using Custom Install. If you have already installed the .Net framework then you may need the update. You can uninstall the .Net update in Add/Remove Programs and then unselect it from Windows Update to prevent it from reinstallin or reminding you.
The Malicious Software Removal Tool is a monthly thing MS introduced to do a quick system scan and remove any malicious stuff that may be hiding on your system. A few months back it actually removed a hijacker for me on a customer machine that was proving difficult to get rid of. |
