NTFS vs. "NTFS (quick)" ...What's the difference?
When either installing/reinstalling Windows XP, I'm confronted with the option to format my hard drive as either NTFS, or "NTFS (quick)". My question is, what exactly is the difference between the two, since both are the same format? If I decide to choose "NTFS (quick)", do I lose any benefits that would normally accompany the regular NTFS option?

I've used both and honestly can tell no difference at all.

The difference is between a format and a quick format on any filesystem since .. Win98. Quick Format does not check for bad sectors, while a regular format will erase out everything and perform a bad sector check (not a surface scan) for you. Other than that, you will not notice a difference at all, if you had a good hard drive to begin with.
