Restart and use F8 and select safe mode.....shows assorted system32 drivers loading and the freezes. Restart and select W98...W98 slpash screen appears the n freezes. HD activity light stay lit. Boot wit install CD....setup loads files...select repair/recover function...goes to recovery and repair console...asks whichto log on to...only one is 1: D:\windows....select 1....askes for password...no password press enter.... Now in DOS mode @ D:\windows...change to C:\ and type dir and enter.....find boot.ini....type boot.ini and ir returns the following [boot loader] timeout = 1 default = multi<0>disk<0>rdisk<1>partion<1>\windows [operating systems] multi<0>disk<0>rdisk<1>partition<1>\windows = "microsoft wnidows XP home addition/fastdetect/noexecute = optin C:\ = "microsoft windows" Is this enough info to start troubleshooting for the problem??shadow_man |
