Red face transfer xp from a 250Go SATA hd to 20Go IDE hd

hi everyone!

my configuration :
- seagate barracuda 7200.8 - 250 Go - NTSF (SATA)
- maxtor ? 20 Go - NTSF - master (IDE)
- xp pro + sp2
- MSI PT8 Neo-V
- MDRAM DDR400 256 Mo x 2
- P4 2,4GHz

i'd like to transfer (or re-install) windows xp pro + sp2 & program files, which are currently installed on the SATA drive to the small IDE in order to separate o.s & programs from files.

i made a windows install disk with nLite, have a drivers backup and all setup programs for my application ( you never know...)

is it possible to delete or transfer windows & program files without formating the SATA drive and as a consequence lose every files on it ( )?

thanx for your help and have fun in this world!!

No you can't remove XP and the programs from the drive and leave your data untouched.
Why aren't you going to back up your data files?
XP does not need install disks, the cd boots on it's own and will partition and format the drive.

well i wanted to avoid backing up the files, so i won't have to go through the hassle of asking for someone's drive but i guess i have no choice...

you could always purchase a small external HD to use for backing up files, that way u dont have to ask for your friends HD's.
