Windows won't boot! Urgent please help.
Hey guys, I have a custom built computer that has been working perfectly fine for months. Last night, however, whenever I opened a game, the game would freeze and this beep (doesnt sound like a beep, but its some type of noise) would come up. I turned off my computer and kept doing it over again. Suddenly one time I got the message that I have a device driver error. So I completely reinstalled Windows. It was ok for a little while, but after I rebooted my computer after installing service pack 2, it happened again. However, this time, it is before Windows is booted. The Windows XP window with the loading bar thing on the bottom shows up, but before Windows actually opens up, i hear this noise (its the noise you get when you first turn on your computer) and my screen goes blank. Please help!

Could be ram going bad, if you have more than one stick, try pulling one at a time to see if the problem follows a stick of ram. Also, just to double check, make sure all cables are firmly seated in their connections.

Does it boot into safe mode? That'll show if its driver related. ^fo |
