Exclamation Reformat Question

When i reformat my HDD, i will lose Service Pack 2 right? is there any way of backing this up?

That depends on what CD you will be using to reinstall the O/S.

If your CD is just XP, you won't have any of the SP's and will need to download SP2. If your CD is XP SP1, you will have to download SP2.

SP2 can either be downloaded as a seperate self-installer package, or through individual updates with Windows Update.

I'am using the Compaq Recovery Software to reformat and reinstall my OS. so that means i would have to download ang install SP2 once again. (i dont have a windows xp cd because it came preinstalled on my system.)

If you have good speed for your internet you can download SP2 in advance visit this page: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en or you can do it by (as FF already said ) via Windows Update !!!

Just incase you don't know-> You'll lose Everything on the drive when you format. (emails/addressbook/important stuff etc)

Just for the record, when I did that it arrived in 5 business days.
