Chances are that the pc won't boot up due to the new hardware. A repair install will help remedy that.
Should check out MS Knowledge base sometime..... Search the Support Knowledge Base (KB) http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 How to replace the motherboard on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000 http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;824125

If you do repair install you will lose all updates you may have (including service packs), if you do clean install you will lose all data (programs, documents, etc) !!!

G'day
Can you make a HDD image and save it in a HD or DVD? You can use Acronis TrueImage, or Noron Gost. John |

macko: Nope, not with XP baseline and a drive larger than 137gb. It could even corrupt the existing partition.
