Cannot play MOH on other PC
Medal of Honor used to work OK on my other PC. That was before I reinstalled Windows. Now when I start the game the CPU usage goes to 100% and stays there until I end the program through the task manager. I cannot do anything in the game menu. The mouse pointer moves once every 20 seconds. I have reinstalled the game several times. Any ideas?
EDIT: Appearently it didn't install correctly the first time I installed it. Now I cannot remove it! I have clicked uninstall many times but will NOT go away. I have even deleted the program files and all of the registry entries I could find. It still shows up in the Add/Remove Programs list and I cannot reinstall it. When I insert the CD and click install it gives my the folloing options: Repair, Modify, Remove. None of them do anything. How can I fix this? I just want to start over with this game. The last thing I want to do is reinstall Windows.

Ok, here is where I'm at now. Windows thinks the game is installed when, in fact, it is not. In the Add/Remove programs list it shows it taking up 3.1 MB. The EA Games folder is not in the program files. When I choose any of the options in setup (modify, repair, remove) it does something for 15 minutes (like it's normally installing) but when it finishes the EA Games directory isn't there, the game isn't in the start menu, and obviously it doesn't work. How can I start from the beginning and completely remove all traces of this corrupt installation?

Can you go back to a restore point to before you installed it?
If not, see if you can find manual uninstall instructions, or possibly email tech support.

The problem is that I would have to install SP2 all over again. The first time I tried to install the game was a few weeks ago. I really don't want to redo all of the stuff I've done since then. It takes 3 hours to install SP2 alone on that PC.
Where would I finde manual uninstall instructions? I will try contacting tech support but I haven't had much luck with EA tech support in the past. |

Are there any special SP2 patches for the game. I know there was a whole slew of games that needed some sort of SP2 patch either from microsoft, or from the game's website.

Not that I know of. I have it running on this PC with SP2 with no problems at all. I had it running on the other PC as well before the reformat.

To remove MOH will be pain, I had same problem first time I met with this game and since then I'm more carefull instaling EA games, here what I did: Tried to delete every entry that game made (registry, windows perfech, all folders, with search find anythig that has name MOH etc) with not much luck but found ADVANCED Uninstaler 2003 or was 2002 downloaded trial version and uninstaled poorly instaled game with this tird party tool since then I have bought all Advanced Uninstall and now running AU2004!!!
The only thing from SP2 that gives you pain when installing MOH, AA, AAB is Windows Firewall you will have to unblock game when you first playing !!!

Thanks! I installed Advanced Uninstaller Pro trial and it did remove the game so it would install completely and correctly. However, I have another problem now. Whenever I try to start the game the CPU usage goes up to 100% and stays there when I get to the main menu. When I try to move the mouse the music stops and it takes 20 seconds for the pointer to move. That PC isn't exactly fast but the game has always worked fine on it. Any ideas on that?

It could be a graphic card issue but did you check your system for malware, and one more thing did you check Firewall settings for game maybe firewall is blocking it so it goes to great usage of CPU !!!

Yes you should try reinstalling drivers, but having incorect or insuficient PSU can cause quite a lot of problems for you !!!

I haven't changed anything. The PC is now back at it's original state. I had installed that other video card but I now have the original GeForce 2 in there which has always worked. The PC is in it's original state the way it has been since several years ago. I just reinstalled the drivers again and I'll post back with the results.
EDIT: Nope, it doesn't work. I can't run any games at all on that PC. I really don't want to reinstall Windows again. What would a repair install do? Would it clear all of my settings and stuff? Last edited by Hi Ho; 07-07-2005 at 03:39 PM. |

Any other ideas? Maybe DirectX didn't install correctly? I think if that's the case I would have to reinstall SP2 anyway.
