Windows Start-up

Hi,everytime when I reboot my PC,I am always diverted to a screen which prompts me which operating system I would like to choose from before starting up windows.This is very time wasting and annoying.Can anyone tell me how can I omit this portion.Mine is running on win XP Pro.Thank you.

You can alter BOOT.INI file witch is hidden file on a system root!!!

Your BOOT.INI should look like this that is if you don't have two OS)

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

To access boot.ini do this: Open My computer > on tools tab choose Folder Options > in folder options choose view tab > then uncheck box by " Hide Protected Operating system files" > then click apply > go back to C: (root) and there now you will be able to see file named "boot" click open and alter if necesary!!!

Or open System properties from Control Panel click on Advanced Tab click on Start up and Recovery and from "default Operating System" at the top of screen choose right one!!!

Just offering up another way to get to it, but you can also access your boot.ini file through msconfig (Start > Run > msconfig). I think this is a much simpler way, although those offered up by macko work perfectly as well. You can also do a lot of other things than just edit your boot.ini file in msconfig.
