HELP! Error loading OS
I'm trying to re-install XP, with a new ASUS motherboard, and AThalon 2800 processor. Got a brand new 80 gig hd (trying to rebuild almost ground-up.) When I get it powered up, it flys right to the error loading OS, though it's random. I have also gotten HD error messages, and even got almsot completely installed before the screen went black and it rebooted. This is not due to the motherboard, and I actually had xp running until I tried to install a sound card- pulled the sound card but no help. Any suggestions?
Note: My husband is the one who usually does this stuff, and is in the service, so unavailable to help. Iny ideas would be most apprciated, especially in simple terms- I'm better than a newbie, but by no means very skilled at this kind of thing. THANKS!!! |

What kind of hard drive are you using? IDE or SATA? If IDE, what is the jumper set to? Master, slave or CS (cable select)?
