Xp question
I am building a pc part by part and I was wondering when it comes time to get an OS will I have to buy the full $200 windows XP to have an OS since the $100 is an upgrade? I don't believe my old Windows 98 disk that came with my old HP pavillion will work will work with my new pc. So I couldn't start with it and the upgrade. Anyway to get out cheaper???

Unless you're operating in a business invironment and need to connect to a domain with it's security features or attending college that requires it, you don't need XP Pro. XP Home SP2 works great for personal use. Save yourself some money and buy the OEM disk. No fancy box and no phone support from MS but you have all the support you need right here at PC Mech. Here's where I've been buying my copies for new builds. Good prices and free shipping.
