Loading Windows Office

My girlfriend recently got her father's labtop and as it turns out, he had a pirated copy of Office on his computer. My girlfriend, not wanting to make an enemy with Bill Gates, bought the student copy of Office.

My question is: Is installing Office over the pirated copy as easy as sticking in the disks? Or do I have uninstall the pirated copy first? And if so, how do I do this?

Thanks for your help, PCMechers.

uninstall the pirated copy first
go to the control panel, add/remove programs and uninstall it from there, then stick her student copy into the drive and install the student version of office

DO note that Office 2003 requires Windows 2000 or XP - it will NOT install on 9x/ME.
