Server 2003 - lsass.exe error, continuous reboot cycle
I'm having problems with Server 2003 continuously rebooting when lsass.exe generates an error. Overnight, the server must have rebooted itself at least 20 times. The symptoms initially seemed like the Sasser worm, but it's not because even on a fresh install this happens across EVERY version of Server 2003 - Web Edition, Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, and even Datacenter Edition. On every server I have. Any ideas?

Event Logs would be the first place that I would look for clues. Try googling some of the error messages or using MS KB for more info. I have 4 W2K3 servers and none of them have the problem.

First I would disable automatically reboot upon system failure and check to write an event log instead under system\advanced\start up and recovery.
When you install Server 2003 install all Windows critical updates. Check Event viewer and post event that coincide with the restarts and post Event ID and description. |
